Why did you choose KRCS for your child(ren)?
I chose KRCS for my children because we were looking for a school that embodied our core values, provided safety, and could challenge our children academically while still providing a creative environment for them to pursue other interests.

What do you love most about KRCS?
I love that KRCS integrates the Lower School, Middle School, and High School. The High School and Middle School come down to see Lower School events, and the Lower School and Middle School have opportunities to attend High School events. It allows children to see what they can do and become in the future, and it also gives older students a chance to interact with the younger students and be a role model for them. My oldest child loves the Senior Parade because she gets to make signs for a senior and decorate them according to the college they are going to. Every year, she talks about how she now wants to go to this college or that college and why.

What is one word that describes our school? Tell us why you chose that word.
If there were ever a word to describe KRCS, it would be Community. Because the class sizes are smaller and there are many opportunities for parents to volunteer, you get to know everyone. I’m very fortunate to know most of the families in my children’s grades. I also know most of the teachers and staff. Everyone is so warm and welcoming because we all have the same mindset, which is to care for our children in a Christ-centered and loving way.

Describe one of your favorite teachers or staff members and the impact that this person has had in your student’s life – or perhaps a specific example of a way this person has cared for your student in a special way.
When my youngest started KRCS, she was in Kindergarten and a little shy. She was unsure of speaking in front of people and wouldn’t really volunteer to get up in front of the class, or even raise her hand to answer questions. Mr. Barrett, the Christian Education teacher, changed that. He teaches the drama club after school and the drama camp in the summer. My daughter did both that year. Through his encouragement and guidance, she thrived. She now has a love of drama and puppetry. She has no problem getting up in front of a group or answering questions in class. She now has this confidence in her that I don’t think she would have gotten anywhere else.

How is KRCS preparing your child for God’s call on their lives, including hopes, plans, and dreams for college, career, and/or community?
KRCS is helping to prepare my children for the future, not just academically but spiritually. One of the things I love about this school is the impact on the community. Throughout the year, the school encourages children to give back through charities or various volunteer opportunities. I love that all grades get involved in some way, and there is a discussion on the type of impact you can have on the world around you. They are teaching these children to be leaders and to think for themselves — to not follow the crowd and to blaze their own path. I know that whatever career my children choose, they will be confident in that decision because KRCS has given them the tools to know that God always has a plan for us and will provide us with the correct path.
My children are young, so their thoughts on a career change quite often. The one constant is that they both want to help people. They are learning that to serve others is to also serve the Lord. When the time comes, I know they will make the right decision and be ready for whatever path the Lord has chosen.

What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at KRCS?
Come take a tour and see for yourself the impact this school has made on those that already attend. Talk with other families, former families, and even staff to get a feel for what the school has to offer. If you are hesitant, then consider enrolling your child in one of the many summer camps to have some interaction with staff and children. After seeing the compassion and love poured into every child, you’ll realize enrolling your child is the right choice. Once you complete your first year at KRCS, you will see a notable difference in your child. They will be more confident in themselves, they will be trying activities you would have never thought of, and most importantly, they will want to go to school because of how it makes them feel. Teachers will share honest, personalized feedback that shows they truly know your child, instead of giving you something generic.
